Anastasios Kokkos

Building Engineer & Computational Modelling Specialist

Anastasios (Tasos) is a computational engineer with a background in Civil Engineering, Building Engineering, and Sustainable Design. He studied Civil Engineering in Greece where after 2 years of working in the field decided to expand his educations around the principles of Building Engineering and Sustainable Design following a masters at TUDelft in the Netherlands where he is still based since then.

Initially he worked as a freelance consultant in the field. During this period he had the chance to work closely with Designers and Architects like KCAP Architects, Metabolic and Space & Matter and helped them develop projects focusing on implementing environmental and circular design principles. He then joined the Amsterdam based Architecture firm Zwarts & Jansma – ZJA – for a year where he worked as Sustainability and Computation Engineer. He helped the firm in bridging the gap between the architectural and the environmental design principles that were required for the new proposals of building projects utilizing full scale computational frameworks.
In August 2017, Anastasios joined ARUP and the Amsterdam office where, as a Building & Computation Engineer, was assigned to multidisciplinary projects in order to design tools that would allow for analysis and optimization of building proposals with a special focus on environmental qualities. Together with his involvement in other projects he developed further developed his skills on data and database management.

During his professional career Anastasios’ passion of improving the energy efficiency, performance and indoor quality of buildings became his main focus. By constantly developing his computational and parametric design skills allowed him to implement his broad academic and professional knowledge into various projects of different disciplines. His exposure to multidisciplinary teams and environments enriched his understanding of various engineering principles. An experience that nowadays allows him to deign and engineer and build pragmatic solutions for diverse design and procedural needs of companies with diverse portfolios.
